Change is Here

Change is a hard word. For some it strikes fear, for some it is a nuisance, and for some it is something to embrace. In any instance we must realize there will be changes. It may seem to be bad, good, or just different. Life is all about changes. It is in everyday life. If we live doing the same thing, in the same place, for the same reason, we can become stagnant.

Change can bring new things into our lives, which might be difficult at first, but for the better. We learn from change. We learn the lessons in life so we can go further than we expected.

My son and I are getting ready to move. I don't like moving but I also don't like the parking lot here. There is only room for one car to pass and someone is always taking my parking spot. There are only enough spots for two allotted parking slots per apartment, so if you have company over, you either must take someone else's place or park at the bottom of the hill where you cannot see your vehicle. Not good. I want to start teaching again but cannot do it here.

My son just moved here to Tennessee from Kansas and wants us to get a place together because we haven't seen each other in years, and we want to spend some time together. Trying to find a place to live and him a job in the nearby areas together is almost impossible. Plus, the fact he doesn't know how much he will make, and landlords want to rent to someone who is working. So, it’s a challenge, but we keep looking and are looking forward to having our own place together.

I have had a lot of changes lately and it has been quite interesting. When we know change is coming there are ways of preparing. Most of the time I envision what I think might occur during that time and how things will turn out. I don’t know why I do that. It never comes out the way that I think. The outcome might, but there will be some changes, you can be sure of that!

Recently I have had a serious life change. I had been preparing for over a year. I tried not to see too much into things, but as we all know it is very hard not to do that. I do my best to take things as they come. Go with the flow, as ‘they’ say. Well, I don’t know who ‘they’ are, but ‘they’ are a lot better at it than I am.

I try to constantly work on myself. Finding little things I would like to change to make me a better person for myself. It is not really others I am worried about, but I do think of that also and that is usually what gets me into trouble. Listening to others can be a good thing but you must listen to your inner self.

I used to have a friend who I valued their opinion. Then I found myself being depressed and worried all the time, almost paranoid. The more upset I got the more my friend tried to help. Things were going wrong all the time. I did not understand what was going on. I was thinking all kinds of crazy things and I knew that I was not normally like that. I finally realized I was picking up her emotions. It was not me. So, I had to change the way I was thinking and find my center again.

Life has thrown a lot at us in the world lately. A few have gone with the flow but there are others who are totally against the changes. They have fought since day one. We must learn to be flexible. Fighting for a good purpose is commendable but fighting against those who are trying to keep us safe and healthy…really?

Everyone keeps waiting till we get to go back to the way it was before. Not sure that will happen. Not sure it should happen. I don’t like wearing masks but if it helps to keep people safe then, so be it. Even if it is just a reminder to help keep the environment and us a little cleaner.

Change is here. Things are different and not just the way we have to be in public. People’s minds are opening increasingly. People are getting curious about what all is out there. Are we alone? Do our ancestors help us in life? What happens when we die?

These are all good questions and there are many more. Change is here. Embrace it and find out what all change can do.

When faced with change you need to find something to look forward to in the change. If your child is moving out, then you will have a new room to makeover. Yes, you will miss them but now you can have a new office, craft room, work room, workout room or whatever you desire. Don't dwell on the fact that your child has moved on. It's time for you to move on as well.

Learn from the changes in your life, accept them and move on. Learn and grow with every opportunity. Things are brought into our lives for a reason so take advantage of the changes. We are to learn from the past, live in the present and be thankful for the future we will have and for the future of our loved ones.

Change is here and it’s not going anywhere.

New Beginnings for Spring

This is the time for Spring, for new beginnings. My favorite times of year are spring and fall. I know we need winter so the plants and trees can regroup, and the summer is for crops to get ready for harvest. But I love to watch everything come into bloom in the spring and then watch all the colors turn in the fall.

Things have been dormant, and I have been feeling stagnant. I usually try to take a break and then start thinking of what I want to do for the coming year. I always have lots of ideas and not all of them get done but it gives me something to strive for. I believe in reaching beyond my goals but keeping a few reasonable ones in view. Trying to only strive for what I know I can do, puts a limit on myself and I don’t find that acceptable. There is nothing like reaching a goal and/or going beyond it. It is an unbelievable feeling and one I would like to achieve as much as possible.

One of my goals this year is to get one of my books published. I haven’t decided which one, but I have been trying for years to find a way to get the money and something always happens. I need to look past this and do whatever I can to get it done. I feel an urgent urgency for this to happen this year. I am looking forward to seeing it blossom and help those it is intended for.

Opening of Minds

Lately I have noticed an opening of minds. People are looking for answers. They want to know more about the other side. So many of us have been at death’s door, are afraid of dying, and or have had a loved one pass. When we are faced with death curiosity pops its little head up. No more just living in the moment, work, family, friends, etc.… We have to face the thing which all of us will face when it is our time and that of those we love and care for.

I have had many messages from the other side, so I have great faith we will be good when we cross over, and our loved ones are good. They watch over us and guide us when they can. They also send us messages letting us know they are with us.

A song on the radio, an overheard conversation about their favorite show, a scent when no one is around. We just must pay attention and then acknowledge them.

When we want to hear from them, just think of them in your favorite memory and then look for their signs for you. When you notice the sign, tell them. Thank them for their visit and anything else you want to say. Talk to them whenever you want. They will hear you. I walk around talking to my loved ones all the time. Most people think I am just talking to myself but that’s ok. People who know me will say ‘Oh that’s just Donna being Donna’, and then laugh a little.

When I was a child, I saw a movie where a lady kept talking to herself and the ‘men in the white coats’ took her away. I don’t know what movie it was because I was peeping and at the wrong time, but this stayed with me. I didn’t want the ‘men in the white coats’ to show up and take me away, so I stayed quiet. Now I am a lot older, and people just see me as that old crazy lady who talks to herself all the time and stays away from me…lol.

If this is a concern for you, just do it when you are alone. Another way is to write them a letter. Writing a letter is a wonderful way to let go of anger issues as well. Burn it or bury it. Take it to a river, tear it up and throw it in. There are a lot of ways, just do what feels right for you. Just talk to them and then pay attention.

Questions and/or suggestions, email me. Thank you for your time.
